Seana Doughty grew up in Southern California, where the only cheeses in her childhood home were Velveeta & Kraft singles, along with the occasional commodity block cheddar. However, food had always been a passion. In 2008, she made a life-changing decision to quit her desk job and immerse herself in the world of cheese, first as a cheesemonger in Southern California. She soon opened her own creamery, Bleating Heart, and began making sheep's milk cheese in the cooler climate of the Northern California coast.
Ewelicious Blue is the realization of Seana's long-held dream of making her own blue cheese. Until recently, she had been making her cheese in other people's creameries, and her hosts weren't keen on her introducing blue molds into their environments. With the opening of her own creamery, which she owns with her husband, Dave Dalton, she has been able to create this unique raw sheep's milk, natural-rinded blue. The paste offers warm biscuit flavors, while the blue mold imparts a mild savoriness reminiscent of toasted nuts. The cheese is perfect alongside a rich, roasty Imperial Stout or a strong Belgian ale.
