Cheese By Moms

She may tell you she needs nothing except your love, but, let's face it, a little cheese couldn't hurt. We celebrate Spring with three strong and sassy cheeses made by three of our favorite mothers. Judy Shad makes O'Banon, a goat cheese wrapped in bourbon-soaked chestnut leaves (4oz). Cindy Callahan works with her son, Liam, in creating

Pepato, an aged sheep cheese studded with peppercorns (8oz). Our own Maureen Cunnie makes ST PAT, a soft cheese wrapped in stinging nettle leaves (8oz). And local mom June Taylor has prepared a special batch of preserves to accompany the cheeses (6oz). Order here.

Make your way to the Smithsonian's American Art Museum exhibit of Christo's Running Fence, just a block away from Cowgirl Creamery DC shop. That fence, erected in 1976, ran through and showcased the western Marin and Sonoma County pastures of the cows and sheep who gave their milk for cheese. Smiling volunteers from Cowgirl, Bellwether Farms and Marin Agricultural Land Trust, representing the California Artisan Cheese Guild, served cheese at the opening reception. Runs through September 26th.  More information
