Mt Townsend Creamery

"Sense
of place" is often the motivating force behind cheese making. That is what
brought together partners Matt Day, Ryan Trail and Will O’Donnell to
create Mt. Townsend Creamery. Located in Port Townsend, Washington,
the creamery is situated on the North Olympic Peninsula, an area
with a rich dairy history. Rolling farmlands are irrigated by
glacier-fed creeks, allowing dairy cows to graze year round.
Combining their varied talents, these three young men have created
the first artisan creamery in the area, along with providing a
livelihood for their young families. They purchase milk from a
family dairy originally homesteaded in the late 1860's, the oldest
continually operated dairy farm in the state. The names of the Mt.
Townsend cheeses – Seastack, Cirrus and Trailhead – along with their
beautifully designed labels, clearly evoke the beauty of the Pacific
Northwest.
We
waited for a year before the guys at Mt. Townsend were able to
produce enough cheese for markets outside of their area.
Pacific Northwest Collection
Now
that we have Mt. Townsend's cheese, we have created a summer cheese
board, the Pacific Northwest Collection, featuring artisan
cheesemakers neighbors to the north: Mt. Townsend, Tumalo Farms,
Rogue River Creamery and Rivers Edge.

Father's Day Collection
Father's
Day is June 15th and, as always, we have put together a robust
collection with Dad in mind. This year we feature Shelburne 2-year
Cheddar, Fra'mani Salametto and Tracklement's English Mustard. Go

Farmers Market
It's that time of year when many of us look forward to bountiful
summer local farmers market. With the growing interest in buying
local and supporting sustainable agriculture, more and more people
are discovering the personal connection that comes with buying food
directly from the people who produce it.
Behind every farmers market there is a team of people who make it
all happen. In San Francisco, CUESA (Center for Urban Education
about Sustainable Agriculture) is the force behind the Ferry Plaza
Farmers Market. In our home of Point Reyes Station, our seasonal
market has flourished with the support of Marin Organic, an
organization dedicated to supporting local sustainable
agriculture. In Washington, DC, our cheesemongers visit the Penn
Quarter Farmers Market to pick up cheese for our counter and fresh
vegetables for our sandwiches.
Cowgirl Creamery will be selling our award-winning cheese at farmers
markets in the Bay Area this summer.
